Priority Property Services
PPS regards sustainability and environmental management as a key objective in which we can play an important and leading role.
PPS has developed the following initiatives which have been implemented at various sites to reduce our impact on the environment.
Cleaning teams and the impact on the use of electricity.
With ‘Green buildings now incorporating power saving controls and environmental initiatives into everyday use, PPS will compliment these initiatives by scheduling cleaning teams to take full advantage of the systems in place.
For example, light sensor units will automatically turn lights on for a certain period of time after activation. By scheduling 2 or 3 cleaners to work as a team on the same floor the cleaning operation time will be reduced, thus saving electricity and reducing our carbon footprint.
Reduced water use in floor cleaning units.
In regard to the use of water in automatic cleaning units, PPS has implemented an environmental initiative, namely the FST system. Foam Srcub Technology will be utilised in automatic floor cleaning units required for hard floor surface cleaning.
The benefit of this system is it allows for 70% less water use and also that the floor surface is left much dryer after cleaning. Many areas previously cleaned only after hours due to residual wetness, are now cleaned during the day.
Waste recycling program.
PPS provides training to all staff in regard to procedures and systems in place to assist in maintaining a high percentage of material being recycled.
Part of our training program includes an induction program for new cleaners.
All suggestions to help increase the volume of waste material being recycled will be flagged with the building management team in our regular service review meetings.
These suggestions may include the following;
- Educational materials in PDF format including stickers, posters for waste rooms, site specific signage for tenancies, kitchens, PowerPoint presentations etc.
- Colour coding of all on site waste bins to match the ongoing education and training programs.
- To set and maintain targets for each waste stream to effectively review efforts by tenants and cleaners alike.
PPS will maintain the focus with cleaners on refresher training and the review of procedures aimed at achieving high levels of waste recycling. Part of this process will be for feedback from ground level to flow back to site management via service reviews.
With ever advancing technology more and varying waste streams are being recycled.
Fluorescent tube recycling
Specially designed prepaid storage boxes with a capacity of 50 tubes are normally located in the loading dock area/waste collection area of the building and are collected by our service provider when full.
A collection and tracking fee will also apply here, the latter being for the EPS (Environmental Protection Authority) to provide confirmation that each component of the tube is recycled correctly.
